Byron Music Festival is run by locals for locals.

We’re passionate life-long industry professionals and advocates of art and culture.

We’re dedicated environmentalists.

We believe in the importance of community and regularly, consistently, contribute to ours.

We believe everyone should have access to music and cultural community events.

Country.

We are respectful allies of all First Nations people; we honour the traditional custodians of Arakwal Country and the greater Bundjalung Nation.

All staff are encouraged to walk country with Explore Byron Bay prior to an event, and to learn from First Nations practices to embed practical understanding and awareness of country in our work.

We care for, protect and preserve country in our daily lives, and ensure our events have minimal impact on country.

Culture.

We support, pay, and champion our local talent, and aspiring creative industries professionals, with a vision that our mentorship, training, and sustainable paid employment will nurture the next generation of local leaders, so we keep our most talented in the community, and continue to grow a thriving cultural economy within the region.

Community.

We believe nothing can heal hearts and bring people together like music can, we need as much of it as possible now, and we want to make our people smile, laugh, dance and sing together. And we want every local resident of the Northern Rivers to be able to access it.

We keep ticket prices as low as possible, provide transport, and design physically accessible spaces for all to enjoy.

Eco-Events.

We're standing proud as aspiring local leaders in Green Festival Management, having already achieved carbon negative status in our first year.

We work with Earthed Consulting to continue to achieve greater positive impact in this space.

Byron Music Festival is a plastic-free and zero-waste event.

We partnered with Blue Sky Beverages to create reusable, aluminium water bottles and had free water refill stations on site for all.

Volunteers were on site to ensure minimal impact on the site and dunes, and employed extra security to ensure no-one trying to access BMF did so via the beach. The Rangers led a beach clean up the day after the festival, keeping the site and surrounds pristine.
